GOLGOTHA was the greatest that has yet taken place Since the world was created. It was at Golgotha that the “seed” of the woman bruised the head of the serpent as prophesied in Eden. (Gen.3:5). It was this event that a whole lot of prophets, seers, and the psalms anticipated and spoke about for ages. And when it happened, it changed the history of our world and altered the destiny of mankind forever.

God chose to use Calvary at Golgotha to obtain redemption for man. the Almighty Himself decided to choose the way of weakness. The cross redefined Him as one who willingly relinquish power for the sake of love. And so it happened that the might of the world came together with the most sophisticated religious system and the most powerful political empire against a solitary figure. The world thought that had Him where they wanted Him whereas He Himself was overseeing the whole long process. The cross had been His goal all along. in John 18:37, He calmly answered Pilate…. “To this end I was born, and for this cause came I into the World…”

The sacrifice at Golgotha was the inevitable way out of sin and doom; the only means of reconciling the sinful man to a God who cannot behold iniquity. Matt. 27:33-37 recounts that ” when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of skull, They gave Him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tested thereof, he would not drink. And they crucified Him…”
The carnal mind which is ” enmity against God” Crucified and sinless Son of God. But all through the awful ordeal, He remained steadfast and undaunted. He never faltered in spite of all that men, the same poeple He came to save, heaped on Him. He carried on what he undertook to do, drank from bitter cup to the last drop and won the victory.

The price for our redemption was fully paid . Jesus died for the since we were to die for (1peter 3:18). and with His death He opened the way to the throne of God. matt.27:51 says” And behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to bottom; and the earth did quake, and the roacks rent.” The cleansing that was being sought from sacrifices of the lawwas finally handed to man giving us direct access to the mercy seat. Jesus became the great High priest who had offered Himself as great sacrifice once and for all. He prepared the way for us to enter the Holiest of Holies, that is , the highest experience of grace full salvation.

The event at Golgotha is indeed, celebration of victory, story of love, and the fulfilment of the promise of God who will go to any extent to win man back. And the greatest of this is the accomplishment of Jesus in that He made us lovable to God and triumphant over sin.

The consequences of Golgotha to you, dear reader, is that whatever you think of Jesus and how you respond to His suffering and death will determine your destiny for eternity. Choose life by accepting His gift of salvation and enternal life today. Choose to live for Him; it is the least you can do.
